A Day Labourer

A Day Labourer

A day labourer is one who has no land of his own and thus earns his livelihood by hard work. He may work as a mason, a carpenter, a peasant and an earth digger. A day labourer is very poor. He has no fixed income. He gets wages if he can work. He usually works in the field of others. In the morning a rich farmer hires his to work on his land. He is generally low paid. He is the only earning member of his family. So, he can hardly maintain his family. He lives in a thatched cottage. He suffers much in the rainy season. He contributes much to our economy but he suffers most. During rainy days a day labourer finds no work and he has to starve along with his family. He can hardly buy clothes or fancy things. He does not know whether he will get work all the time. If he becomes sick, he along with his family starves. If he meets an accident, he dies without treatment.
